Pender Point was founded to deliver financial advice that puts people first. Richard Chiu BBA, EPC

Principal Advisor

Richard is an independent Advisor dedicated to providing Canadians with clear, unbiased financial advice. He believes that true financial guidance must be free from institutional conflicts of interest—ensuring clients receive strategies tailored solely to their goals, not corporate agendas.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University, where he concentrated in Finance. He has also earned his Elder Planning Counselor (EPC) designation. Richard is currently in the pursuit of his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.

With a background in Tax Preparation & Reporting, Portfolio Administration, and Risk Management Advising, Richard brings a well-rounded perspective to planning. His hands-on experience across these areas allows him to build integrated strategies that address every stage of a client’s financial journey.

When he’s not helping clients, Richard enjoys reading, working out, and baking bread.


Karl Krokosinski

Karl has dedicated more than five decades to the financial services industry and is widely regarded as a leader, educator, and mentor within the profession. He is a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) with over 40 years of membership, earning 34 Court of the Table and 27 Top of the Table honours.

Professionally, Karl specializes in estate and succession planning strategies for businesses, individuals, and multi-generational family enterprises.

Ian R. Whiting

CD, CFP®, CLU®, CH.F.C., FLMI, ACS, AIAA, AALU

Long known as an innovative, creative, and forward thinker in the financial services world, Ian enjoys the challenge of learning new material and planning for the future evolution of our profession. As a past Senior Editor and Contributing Writer for MONEY MAGAZINE, Ian is recognized throughout the financial services community in Canada. Ian taught a variety of courses through Ashton College, based in Vancouver (HLLQP, CIFC, and the CLU, CHS, and CFP programs). As a strong supporter of ADVOCIS, FP Canada, and the IFB, Ian has been an active member of the Disciplinary Hearing Panel for the FPSC from 2015 through 2017. He was a Quarterback for the IAFE for four and a half years. Ian is also an Associate of the Certified Fraud Examiners. He is a past qualifier for MDRT.
